Adjustment to existing Utility's Fire Hazard Severity Areas identified by California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection located in the Utility's Service Territory

  • Determine the appropriate fire hazard severity for each existing area
  • Determine the appropriate size for each fire hazard severity area according to actual field conditions
  • Provide supporting evidence justifying the changes for submittal to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection

Identify additional Fire Hazard Severity areas in the Utility's Service Territory

  • Review the utility's service territory to identify the fire hazard severity areas
  • Determine the appropriate Fire Hazard Severity for each new area
  • Determine the appropriate size for each new Fire Hazard Severity area
  • Provide supporting evidence justifying the additions for submittal to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection

Consideration of Climate Change Risks

  • Identify areas of ecological change within the Utility's service territory over a specified time frame
  • Identify high fire threat areas within the Utility's service territory over a specified time frame
  • Identify areas to avoid construction of overhead powerlines within the Utility's Service territory over aa specified time frame

Coordinate the update of the Fire Hazard Severity areas

  • Submit Utility's Territory Fire Severity area updates to utility for review and approval
  • Submit Utility's Service Territory Fire Severity area updates to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection for inclusion into the High Fire Severity Area map
  • Coordinate approval of updates by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection
